Molnar Makes Jail Safety Top Priority

RACINE--As Sheriff, Ron Molnar will make getting Racine County Jail operations back on track a top priority.  Several areas of concern will be addressed, starting with the direct supervision of jail inmates.  Basic searches and inspections will be closely scrutinized, as will basic sanitation expectations.  Training and staff development are also crucial elements of maintaining a safe, secure facility and will be a dedicated, focus area.

According to Molnar, "There is absolutely no excuse for a filthy jail.  Thorough searches and inspections are basic elements of jail operations and any appearance that they are not important is completely unacceptable.”  Daily inspections of the jail and close monitoring of jail operations on all shifts is essential to restore confidence that jail operations are consistently meeting expectations.

Molnar reflects on losing the contract to house 120 state prisoners over mismanagement of jail operations. “This resulted in a very substantial loss of revenue to Racine County and that is completely unacceptable,” said Molnar.

“I will provide leadership and take immediate responsibility to implement the necessary corrections to regain the lost jail contract.  I must restore the luster on the Racine County Sheriff's star.  You should expect nothing less from your Sheriff."
