Former Ambassador, Congressman and Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Green Endorses Scott Walker for Governor
Wauwatosa – Scott Walker, Milwaukee County executive and candidate for governor, received the endorsement today of former Ambassador, Congressman and 2006 gubernatorial candidate, Mark Green, at a press conference in Green Bay.
“I was proud to work with Scott when we were lonely voices calling for fiscal responsibility as freshman state legislators in Madison back in 1993. I was proud to watch Scott take on the political machine in Milwaukee and build a movement based on accountability to the taxpayers. I will be proud to call Scott Walker my governor,” said Green. “Scott Walker’s common sense and commitment to fiscal discipline are exactly what Madison needs to get our state back on track and our economy growing again.”
“Mark Green is a tremendous public servant and friend, and I’m thankful for his support,” said Walker. “Mark knows firsthand that it takes a strong, engaged, statewide network of true grassroots supporters to run an effective campaign, and I appreciate him joining our team.” In 2006 Walker ended his campaign for the Republican nomination for governor, and united with Congressman Green to campaign against the damaging policies ofJim Doyle.
Congressman Mark Green was a member of the United States House of Representatives representing Wisconsin’s 8th congressional district from 1999 to 2007. He is the former United States Ambassador to Tanzania.
