STATEMENT FROM MARK NEUMANN
WAUKESHA, Wis. - March 26, 2010 - Mark Neumann issued the following statement today in response to the news that the northbound Highway 45 bridge through the Zoo Interchange in Milwaukee County will be closed until Memorial Day.
“This is an example of government at all levels failing at a core responsibility. Beyond the clear and present danger that this crumbling bridge posed to the public, the closure will negatively impact business and commercial travel. This also sends a terrible signal to businesses that may consider locating in Wisconsinand bringing good-paying jobs with them.
“Unfortunately, years of reckless fiscal mismanagement, including raids on the state’s transportation fund, have allowed this deterioration to occur. Wisconsin’s crumbling infrastructure is symbolic of a government that fails to put people first and gets tangled up in politics and bureaucracy to the detriment of its citizens.”
