On The Road with Dave: Creating the Atmosphere for New Jobs, Part I

The Multiple Benefits of Tax Holidays

The atmosphere necessary for job creation and economic activity is directly impacted by the government’s tax and spending habits.  Too much of both will kill the entrepreneurial spirit, chill economic activity, and stifle job creation.  Clearly, this is the scenario we face right now.

Putting Americans back to work and breathing life back into this economy requires swift, bold, and immediate action to create the proper atmosphere for recovery.  This is not a simple process, and it must meet the three criteria for government involvement that our campaign has championed since introducing the topic of the economy…any action must: 1. not increase the size of government, 2. not increase spending, and 3. be Constitutional.

Therefore, the best way of stimulating the economy while simultaneously meeting the aforementioned criteria is to immediately provide a capital gains tax holiday on all investments made on new ventures or expansion within existing companies through the end of 2011.  By reducing the barriers to investment in start ups or companies that wish to expand, we: 1. promote new company development, 2. promote investments into existing companies to improve themselves, and—when either (or both) of the first two happen—we also 3. promote immediate job creation.  This is obviously exactly what we need.

Teaching the Government "Tough Love"

Beyond this, reducing tax revenue into the federal government also reduces their ability to spend.  If the government refuses to curb their spending appetite on their own, we’ll have to show them “tough love” by cutting back their means to do so (coupled, of course with new elected officials who will not simply raise our national debt limit).

Imagine it…by simply demanding that our government do what it’s supposed to do (shrink itself and cut taxes), we could immediately climb out of the economic woes we’re experiencing, achieve a robust recovery that puts Americans back to work...and we would once again watch the sun rise over the horizon on a new morning in America.

I hope you enjoy the video and I look forward to seeing you on the road…
