On The Road with Dave: Identifying the Real Challenges and Opportunities in America

Digging Deeper
While it’s easy to pick up a newspaper or listen to the news report on TV or radio and think that you’re hearing about all the challenges facing us in America today, most Americans intuitively know that we’ve got more to address than just a bad economy, a battle with health care, terrorism, corruption in politics, etc.
And that intuition is exactly right.
Don’t get me wrong—the aforementioned issues (and many more!) are problems that need to be solved…but rather than being individual challenges that can be solved independently, they’re actually symptoms of a much larger concern: a federal government that is growing out of control.  When the government grows at the pace we’ve experienced over the past several years, it take a continuously increasing amount of tax revenue to fund that growth—tax money that comes out of our pockets and, in turn, out of the economy.  Unlike Mr. Smith, when our money goes to Washington, it ceases to work for us…and that’s a problem.
Mobilizing for the Solution
The unfortunate truth behind our growing government is that its size is directly proportional to the lack of integrity and character of the people we send to Washington to run it.  The solution to this problem, however, is simple—we need to stop electing people who have conflicting or self-serving interests.  If someone is in a political race for any other reason than because they’re called out of a sense of duty to do so, things won’t change.  If a candidate’s sense of honor is clouded by corruption or speculation thereof, then our problems will not be solved.  And if an office seeker’s motivation is anything other than devotion to our Country and all that she stands for, then our issues will persist.
The good news is, however, is that America is waking up to this truth…and it looks like November will bring the dawn of a new morning for our “shining city on the hill.”
Enjoy the video and I look forward to seeing you on the road…
