On The Road with Dave: Duty, Honor, Country...Dave Westlake
“Duty, Honor, Country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be....”
--Gen. Douglas MacArthur, West Point Class of 1903

What Are We REALLY Missing?
It’s no mystery that our country is facing a number of challenges right now. It’s also no mystery that what we’re suffering from is NOT a lack of proposed solutions to these challenges…what we’re missing is real leadership to help us overcome them.
Almost 20 years ago, I had the honor of attending West Point. After four years of studying at what is arguably the world’s premier leadership institute—and walking the same halls thatDouglas MacArthur walked…and sitting in the same rooms that George Patton sat in…and eating in the same “mess hall” that Dwight Eisenhower ate in—the words “Duty, Honor, and Country” transform from a mere motto into a way of life; they transform a cadet into a life-long servant to our country.
Right now, we need elected officials to get back to serving the public—that’s their duty. We need leaders to represent their constituents—that’s the sacred honor they’re entrusted with. We need to right the course of our country…because our future is at stake.
Enjoy the video and I look forward to seeing you on the road…
Accountability Starts Today.
p.s. Are you concerned with the AP story that surfaced yesterday regarding me not paying state income taxes in 2002? Well, so was I when I read it. Since I didn't actually live in Wisconsin in 2002, I didn't owe any Wisconsin income taxes that year...a fact they AP conveniently overlooked. I DID, however, pay state income taxes in Illinois--the state in which I lived the entire calendar year of 2002. This type of "politics of personal destruction" is despicable and is unfair to all of you who are trying to become informed voters by researching candidates via the press. I promise you this: I will never disgrace the office of the U.S. Senate or violate the honor and dignity that you expect me to uphold in that post...and paying my share of income taxes is the least you can expect in that regard.
