Walker Wins Fall Fest Straw Poll

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 5, 2009 – (Burlington) The First Congressional District Republican Party today released the results of the gubernatorial straw poll held at the annual ‘Fall Fest’ event held just east of Burlington, WI in KenoshaCounty. Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker earned over 95% of the votes cast when event attendees were asked to select their preferred candidate in the race for Governor.

“I knew Scott would do well among these grassroots Republicans,” said First District GOP Chairman Tyler August. “Scott’s record of proven conservative leadership really helps him connect with not only the base of our party, but folks from across the political spectrum who are concerned about massive government taxation and even bigger government spending. It’s just one of the endless reasons I am proud to have endorsed Scott in this race.”

In the poll, event attendees were asked to select their preference from a list of announced candidates for Governor. Attendees were allowed to vote one time each. The annual fall event drew well over 500 people and featured among other speakers Congressman Paul Ryan, Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus and Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
